As a high school coach the biggest problem with kids on my team is they want to train everything on the same day, multiple days per week. They do some nice exercises but the design program is off. I think what the article addresses is the importance for making strenght gains, and this is a gradual process using the philosophy that “less is more”, a tough concept in our over indulging society.
